The Process of Ordering and Installing a Stairlift

Step 1

Our factory-trained engineers will conduct a detailed assessment of your staircase. We will discuss all the options available to you and then prepare a free, no obligation quotation.

Step 2

If you decide to go ahead with the installation of a stairlift from us, we will then follow the necessary procedure to order your stairlift. Straight stairlifts are kept in stock and can be installed immediately once you place your order, at a time that is convenient to you. Curved stairlifts require photographic assessment so that they are made specifically to fit your staircase. These take up to three weeks from ordering.

Step 4

At Cantre Mobility, we pride ourselves on providing fast and efficient service installations that are as unobtrusive as possible. Our approachable and knowledgeable engineers complete the installation and ensure your staircase is left in the same condition it was when they arrived, only with the addition of your new stairlift! They will also guide you through the use of the stairlift, as well as offer advice and answer any queries you may have.

Is the stairlift attached to the stairs or the wall?

All our stairlifts are attached to the stairs and not the wall.

How long will it take to install the stairlift from start to finish?

The time taken to install the stairlift can vary depending on the type of stairlift you require; however the installation process itself usually takes 3-4 hours to complete for a straight stairlift and up to a full day for a curved stairlift.

With regards to the entire process from ordering a stairlift to completing the installation, the time taken can also vary. In instances where a straight stairlift is required, these are typically kept in stock and can be installed on a day that is convenient for you, depending on engineer availability. In instances where a curved stairlift is required, there is a three week lead time from the date of the photographic assessment.

Is the installation process disruptive?

We aim to ensure that the installation of stairlifts do not cause any disruption, we only require access to the stairs, and they can still be used during the process. Our friendly team of engineers always ensure that they tidy up after their visit, and are happy to help if you have any other queries.

How much will it cost?

The price of a stairlift can vary depending on the type that you require. We offer everything from reconditioned straight stairlifts, new straight stairlifts, and made to measure curved stairlifts. You may also be able to claim VAT exemption on our range of stairlifts, providing that you qualify. Do you repair stairlifts?

Our skilled engineers carry out repairs on stairlifts installed by ourselves, or stairlifts from one of our suppliers. This is in our operating area of Mid, South and West Wales. How are they powered?

Stairlifts are battery powered but must be kept on charge at all times to ensure no loss of power.

What happens if there's a power cut?

In the event of power failure, the batteries will continue for a limited time ensuring that you can still get up and down the staircase.

What type of warranty do you offer?

All our stairlifts come with a standard manufacturers’ warranty of 2 years, and all call-outs and repairs are carried out by ourselves.

What type of service contracts do you offer?

We offer annual service contracts on every stairlift that we install. Our service contract includes an annual service, and all breakdown call-outs and repairs. Also included are any parts that are replaced, only excluding any parts replaced due to accidental damage or wearing parts such as batteries.

How long does the battery last?

As long as the batteries are always kept on charge and the stairlift is well maintained, the batteries will last several years.

What if I no longer need my stairlift?

We are able to remove any stairlift, should you require.

Is there a range of designs to suit different styles/age groups?

There is a range of styles, fabrics and designs to suit you. We also provide a children’s stairlift seat.

What is the maximum user weight limit?

The maximum user weight limit for standard stairlifts vary between 120kg (19 st) and 160kg (25 st). However we also supply a range of stairlifts for bariatric use, designed for a weight capacity of up to 190kg (30 st).
